Sixty-five women patients were evacuated to safety at the emergency ward and other sections of the hospital.

Spokesman of the Civil Defense Lt. Col. Ali Al-Muntashiri said no one was hurt or injured in the fire, which looks to be accidental and likely caused by an electric short circuit.

According to him, the fire broke out at a 6x4 meter room on the fourth floor. The room was being used as a meeting place.

The spokesman said eight teams of various specialties from the Civil Defense fought the fire in the four-story building.

Al-Muntashiri said the fire caused dense smoke in the building but no one was injured.
