Al-Shams daily reported that Al-Qarni wanted any compensation to go to charity organizations and families of the martyrs of the Jan. 25 revolution. He said the major charge leveled against him by the ex-regime was that he supported the banned Muslim Brotherhood and illegally transferred money from Britain to Egypt, besides money laundering.

He said the present transitional government has dropped all charges against him, adding that the charges were baseless. The sheikh said he received invitations from a number of universities and organizations and other agencies in Egypt after they learned about the false charges against him. He said he never remitted any amount to the Brotherhood.

“I did not remit a single dinar or dirham to them. I will visit Egypt shortly and meet scholars and file the lawsuit for damages against the government departments that charged and indicted me without any evidence.” He added that the communications he received after the revolution from Egyptian personalities made him forget the treatment he received.
