- DAMMAM: Police in Ahsa said on Sunday that they were able to arrest a Saudi in his 40s who presented himself to a number of women as a civil service employee with the aim of swindling and blackmailing them.
Spokesman for the Eastern Province police Lt. Col. Ziyad Al-Riqaiti said the suspect, who was not connected to the Ministry of Civil Service, was able to deceive a large number of women.
He said investigations revealed that the fake Civil Service employee used to contact women who applied to the Ministry of Civil Service for jobs.
He told them they could follow up their applications if they paid him a certain amount of money and if they kept it a secret.
Al-Riqaiti said the investigations proved beyond doubt that the suspect was able to lure a number of young women and that he started to blackmail them after obtaining their data.
He said investigations were still continuing at Al-Mabraz police station.
