Ma performed a piece by Bach, while Taylor sung "You Can Close Your Eyes" and Simon performed "The Sound of Silence." Other musical elements in the commemoration included the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and bagpipers from the Fire Department, Police Department and the Port Authority.
