The “Make Your Living With Your Camera” prize aims to open the door wide for amateur and professional photographers aged 18 to 35 to display their work. Registration is open to men and women.

Prize supervisor Amani Al-Othmani stated that the prize seeks to encourage and support photographers in Saudi Arabia and to prepare them for the labor market by helping them benefit from their talents.

Mohamed Bahrawi, chairman of Arabian Wings and art supervisor of the prize, said 2011 prize consists of five categories: general photography, portrait, macro, fast movement and BRJ programs photography.

Finalists will be selected from the first four stages of the competition, while the fifth stage will decide the top three winners. An exhibition will be organized at Jameel Gallery for all finalists.

Prizes for the first three winners include valuable photography equipment and an employment contract with the BRJ to take shots of Saudi writers as they work.

Mohammed Hakami, senior program development director at BRJ, said the prize is one of a series of competitions that BRJ will organize in the future for young people in various areas to create unique job opportunities for them and promote the organization’s work.

More than 400 men and women photographers competed for last year’s prize. This year's competition will kick off on Sept. 17, and registration will be open for two weeks on BRJ’s website www.babrizqjameel.com. Results will be announced on Dec. 1 at a gala organized to honor the participants.
