Tuesday’s vote is requested by the opposition left-wing Smer-Social Democracy party of former Prime Minister Robert Fico and the ultranationalist Slovak National Party, who claim Radicova is not good enough to lead the government.

The four-party coalition government created after last year’s election has a majority in Parliament for Radicova to survive. But the coalition is currently split over an European Union plan to boost the powers of the eurozone’s bailout fund, with one of its members strictly opposing it.

Radicova is the first female prime minister in Slovakia.
