Saad scored in the equalizer in the 75th minute and Ellis put Kansas City ahead in the 86th.

Omar Bravo appeared to score in the 51st minute for Sporting, but was ruled offside.

Kansas City’s Craig Rocastle was shown a red card in second-half stoppage time for a hard foul on Torres.
