“The delegation, which is supervising the project on the development of Wadi Aqeeq in Madinah, also saw a documentary on the rehabilitation project of Wadi Hanifa in Riyadh. The project is called 'The journey of change',” an ADA spokesman said on Wednesday.

The documentary dealt with the value and strategic location of Wadi Hanifa and the program of change aiming to preserve the natural environment and minimize human impact on the valley.

The spokesman also noted that the Wadi Hanifa project was aimed at enabling the valley to carry out its natural function as a natural drainage system of water.

“The delegation was also briefed on future investment opportunities in Wadi Hanifa, including the awards it has won,” the spokesman added.

The delegation was also briefed on the strategic plans for the development of Wadi Hanifa as a base for future development programs and learned about the plan to plant 30,000 desert trees at the bottom of the valley.

Tarek Al-Faris, an engineer and director general of urban installations at the ADA, and Saleh Al-Fayez, also an engineer and director of the Wadi Hanifa rehabilitation project, conducted the briefing.

The delegation also took a tour of the project and saw the natural reprocessing system, pedestrian pavements, water canal cover, water source control, valley passages and the nine open parks by the valley and its lakes.
