- JEDDAH: Dammam-based Al-Ittifaq collected three important points after defeating Al-Ansar of Madinah 2-0 in a round five match in the Saudi League in Madinah on Friday.
The result took Ittifaq to the top of the team standings with 13 points while Ansar remained at the cellar with five consecutive losses.
In Riyadh at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium, Al- Shabab and Al-Ittihad drew 2-2. Shabab tied Ittifaq on 13 points but dropped to second place on goal difference. Ittihad is sixth in the standings with seven points and with a match in hand.
In the other matches of the day, Najran defeated Al-Raid 1-0 and Qadisia crushed Al-Fateh 6-1. Najran is ninth in the standings with five points while Al-Raid is ranked 13th only one point. Qadisia is fifth with nine points while Fateh is eighth with five points.
Round five action continues Saturday. Al-Ahli hosts Al-Taawon at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, Hajer welcomes Al- Nasr in Al-Ahsa and Alfaisaly entertains Al-Hilal.
