- Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty is expected to miss seven to 10 days of action after getting injured early in their 3-2 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, according to local media.
Doughty collided with Zac Rinaldo 24 seconds into the game and left after playing one more shift later in the period.
“From my vantage point? He came across the trolley tracks, head down,” Rinaldo said. “It was a clean hit, shoulder to shoulder. That’s about it.”
The Kings did not disclose the specific nature of the problem but stressed that it was not a head injury.
Doughty signed an eight-year $56 million contract just prior to the Kings’ season-opening trip to Europe.
