Police officer Mike Espina says 55-year-old Emmanuel Ponce shot his family Sunday in their affluent house in Talisay town in central Cebu province, but spared his favorite youngest daughter.

Espina says the motive for the killings was unclear and there was no sign Ponce was drunk. Ponce was a retired seaman and his wife was a bank manager.

Espina says Ponce’s youngest daughter was too shocked to talk about the killings. He says she saw her father shoot her brother before he ordered her to leave and call police.
