- RIYADH: Customs agents with the help of Saudi border guards seized 2,544 gallons of smuggled liquor at Al-Batha crossing on the Kingdom's border with the United Arab Emirates, security sources said on Monday.
“The bottles were concealed in the back and inside of a hauling truck on its way to the Kingdom,” said Daifallah Al-Otaibi, director general of Al-Batha Customs.
“The liquor was placed in a total of 22 pallets. Customs agents were able to uncover the illegal shipment after a careful and thorough inspection of the shipment,” said Al-Otaibi. He said the truck driver was arrested and transferred to the authorities where he will be questioned on the shipment, which will be destroyed.
