The delegation had one-on-one meetings with more than 100 local entrepreneurs at the Riyadh Palace Hotel. W. K. Lai, Taiwan’s economic counselor, told Arab News that the delegation found the Kingdom a highly competitive market. “Some members of the delegation are not only here to sell their products but also to promote customer service. We want to know first-hand the kind of problems local businessmen encounter in doing business with us so that we could tackle them,” said  Vickey Houng, operations director of Green Team Global Co. Ltd. The delegation comprises 18 companies.

Some others coming for the first time have expressed excitement over the Kingdom’s potential as one of the fastest growing markets.

“We have been doing business with European firms for the past several years. We now find Saudi Arabia very competitive as a market for our products, which are known for high quality and highly competitive pricewise,” said Ina Ho, whose family owns Taiwan Daedalus Door Control Co. Ltd., which manufactures construction products.

Carol Chen, marketing manager of International Marketing Department, expressed optimism regarding her firm’s prospects in the Kingdom. “Taiwan is known for quality products and reasonable prices, for which my company is known for,” she said.

Saudi businessmen also expressed satisfaction over the delegation’s visit. “I have been doing business with Taiwanese businessmen for the last 10 years and I find them trustworthy and reliable,” said Mohammed J. Al-Sahli, chairman of Mohammed J. Al-Sahli.
