“Prince Sultan was distinguished for his wisdom, vision and established political stands in support of justice and peace,” Al-Iban continued, pointing out that Prince Sultan's life was filled with a sense of giving and sacrifice and witnessed achievements through which he dedicated himself to serve his faith, country, people and the Ummah.

The HRC's council expressed deep sorrow for the loss of a great leader who dedicated his life to the service of his nation. The offices the late Prince Sultan held reflected bright landmarks in the Kingdom's history since the days of his late father King Abdul Aziz, the HRC said.

It stressed Prince Sultan's humanitarian efforts, on top of them Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Foundation.

The human rights group also underlined Prince Sultan's standing in the international community and the position he achieved due to his wisdom and great political skills as well as his distinguished relations with heads of friendly and neighboring states.

Prince Sultan’s efforts to achieve a leading role for the Kingdom in supporting and serving Arab and Muslim causes were reflected in his endeavors as head of a number of Saudi delegations to the United Nations and other global forums. During a speech to the UN in 2005, he stressed the importance of the issue of human rights.

The council extended its deepest condolences to the king and the Saudi people for this great loss.
