The envoy was speaking at the 10th anniversary of the Serendib Toastmasters Club (STC) held in Riyadh on Friday.

The guest of honor was Elizabeth Hoban, a professional career strategist. The auditorium was packed with a large number of people including dignitaries from the Sri Lankan community, prominent business entrepreneurs and several high-ranking officers from the Toastmasters Community.

“Wherever we are, communication of thoughts to peers, subordinates and superiors through words are important to carry forward our messages to the concerned parties,” Jawad said, stressing the significance and importance of communication.

Commending the services rendered by the STC, chief guest Jawad said its services have helped its members to develop a wide range of communication skills. “We want STC to continue its yeoman services through which we can help professionals and produce good public speakers.” The major highlights of the evening were the unveiling of the Toastmasters new logo by Irfan Ismail, introduction of a Serendib theme song by Dilshan Punchihewa, and the launching of Serendib Toastamsters Logo by Lalindra De Silva, among others.

The humorous speech was delivered by Mohammed Moobin and Melissa De Silva presented her inspirational speech. Both speeches won first places in division and area level contests.

Former President S. Murugadas said that he enjoyed counseling the Gavel Club. Illiyas Abdulsattar in his speech thanked the members for their dedication towards the club. Past President Riyaz Yoosuff thanked the community leaders and club officers for their efforts.

Former President Sameena Rizan said that she enjoyed the meeting sessions every time she attended. She encouraged the other members to benefit from this program.

The highest recognition in Toastmasters for a single member’s excellent contribution and achievement is the Gavelier of the Year and Toastmaster of the Year awards, won by Abdul Elah Rizan and Lalindra De Silva respectively this time round.

The awards night project chairman and Charter President Xavier Arulandoo said the courage and determination of the charter members have helped the club to maintain excellent standards. The masters of ceremony were Lalindra De Silva and Melissa De Silva.
