A jet-lagged Overton, who was a last-minute replacement for former world No. 1 David Duval, missed a seven-foot putt for birdie at the 18th which would have given him a 10-under score for the day and the outright lead.

“I changed golf clubs a couple of weeks ago and my ball striking has improved so much. Today everything clicked,” said the 28-year-old from Indiana, who had a scare before the tournament when his clubs didn’t arrive until late Wednesday.
