- MUMBAI: The aging Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray called upon people in the state to give a befitting reply to the Congress party and its alliance partner the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in the forthcoming civic polls to be held in the February 2012.
Thackeray writing in the frontpage editorial in party mouthpiece Saamna published on Friday said, "I call upon the people to kill the demon in the form of Congress party" this Diwali (Hindu festival of lights) to dispel the darkness.
Thackeray wrote further, "The Congress regime has spelled darkness all around. Load shedding, malnutrition deaths, adulterated shortage of food grains, costly sugar, milk, fuel, right at the time of Diwali and the rising inflation have hit the common man hard. Therefore, it is time now to kill the demon," Thackeray concluded in the editorial.
