The palace says 90-year-old Prince Philip is suffering from a cold and had to cancel his visit to Assisi, Italy on Monday. He was due to attend the launch of the Green Pilgrimage Network there.

The palace said Monday that Philip is expected to resume his royal engagements later this week.

Philip and the queen recently returned from a trip to Australia for a Commonwealth summit.
