Meanwhile, a thief stole the vehicle with the child still sleeping in the back seat. When the parents went back to their car, they realized to their horror that their car had been stolen and they immediately contacted the police. Mercifully, a miracle occurred. When the thief realized there was a child in the car, he abandoned the car a few minutes later, away from where it was stolen, as reported in Okaz.

This incident begs the following questions: first of all how can these parents be so grossly negligent toward their own child sleeping in the car? How did they have the heart to leave him there while the car was still running? Did they not foresee at all the possibility of any misfortune befalling their child who was left locked alone in the car? For example, there was the possibility that the child could have died from carbon monoxide poisoning from the stationary car or even passing cars’, within minutes of inhaling the poisonous fumes, sinking into a coma, and then dying.

Secondly, did it not occur to them at all that leaving the child totally alone in the car would endanger the child and expose the child to being taken by a thief, should somebody carjack their vehicle, or even kidnap the child and leave the car? Surely they must have heard about the many children who have been kidnapped, including infants straight from hospital nurseries? Or do they live on another planet?

Thirdly, I have noticed that the police tend to only warn drivers about the possibility of having their cars stolen within a few short minutes if they left them running or with the keys in the ignition. Unfortunately however, they do not stress the dangers of leaving their children unattended in vehicles, with or without keys in the ignition; for if the car was stolen, it can be replaced, but the huge tragedy would be exposing vulnerable family members to the possibility of being harmed or kidnapped.

Therefore it is imperative that the public should be made aware of the dangers of such irresponsible behavior.
