- MUMBAI: The Maharashtra police sounded high alert following Intelligence Bureau advisory that some hard-core terrorists from across the border linked with Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) had infiltrated into Delhi to carry out terrorist activates and target some important installations there, while another group of terrorists was likely to sneak into Mumbai and target some important military and civil installations.
Though the state Home Ministry officials were tight-lipped over the issue, citing security reasons. However, a senior police official said that that such intelligence advisory from federal government were a routine affair and the police had to take immediate steps without taking any risks.
According to sources, the Intelligence Bureau alerted that terrorists may target the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) nuclear plant near Trombay, the Naval Western Command headquarters near Colaba, the suburb railway stations and the airport.
Security has been beefed up at all important government, military, naval and air force stations in Mumbai and important cities in the state, as also at railway and bus terminals, shopping malls, BARC and airports.
