Aviation Ministry spokesman Joe Obi said Thursday the government is cutting British Airways’ weekly flights out of Lagos from seven to three starting Nov. 8. Obi said the cut comes to accommodate other carriers during a “very busy” season.

British Airways said in a statement says its schedule remains unchanged and the matter is in the hands of the UK government.

The Nigerian government’s decision comes as local airline Arik Air has complained about getting its own flights into London’s Heathrow Airport.
