The director general made the statement while opening the headquarters of the special emergency forces to support Civil Defense in Makkah.

The system, which is developed by six international companies specializing in manufacturing Civil Defense equipment, has been designed on the basis of the ideas and requirements submitted by the Civil Defense.

The system, which is installed in a coach and is capable of detecting radiation and pollution through hazardous chemicals, is taken to various locations for spot checks during Haj.

“The Civil Defense has brought in two coaches containing the advanced pollutant detectors,” said Brig. Abdullah Al-Ghasham, director of Civilian Protection Administration, a Civil Defense subsidiary.

The devices installed in the coach detect locations of radiation and chemical and biological pollution. The coach can safely enter a polluted area without any hazard to the staff inside. The vehicle is insulated and is airtight.

With the help of the cameras inside the coach the commander of the coach gets an idea of his bearing outside the coach. It can also detect atmospheric changes and factors that influence weather change and wind movement, the official said.

The system also includes an analytical laboratory that enables to ascertain the nature and intensity of a pollution, the official said.
