- Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has recorded a streamlined and high flow of traffic during Thursday’s Tarwiya in Mina, where Haj this year has marked a significant increase in the usage of broadband services, both wire and wireless, compared to the same period last year.
The company recorded a significant increase in international roaming in Makkah and Mina on STC’s network as well as increase of traffic for calls, local and international SMS, and MMS.
The company also announced its preparations to serve pilgrims in Arafat with its networks as well as technical and human resources at the holy site, which is witnessing millions of pilgrims in one specific area.
STC’s superior capacity in Makkah and other holy sites assists in passing more than three million minutes of calls in one hour with high quality and efficiency as well as passing 1.5 billion SMS messages every day.
On Thursday, the company passed more than 1,900 terabytes on its Internet network, which represents more than 90 percent of the total Internet traffic in the Kingdom.
STC owns the largest Internet gate in the MENA region that can pass more than 300 gb/sec.
This year, STC was the only company to launch 4G services at the holy sites, in addition to providing speeds of 42 mb/sec for its QuickNet services.
The company claims to be the only one that provides the circuits services using fiber optics for all government agencies operating in the holy sites and with very high efficiency at all of the mega projects including Al Masha’er Train, Mina Towers, and Jamarat Bridge.
