- BERLIN: German engineering company Siemens says it has recently landed new wind power contracts worth more than $900 million in North America and the Caribbean.
Siemens AG said in a statement Monday that an agreement was reached late last month to build a new wind farm in Puerto Rico with a capacity of 100 megawatts — or about a tenth of an average nuclear reactor’s power.
It says five other contracts were concluded in North America since July — in Kansas, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas and a smaller one in Canada — bringing the total value of new contracts in the region to $900 million with a capacity of 670 megawatts.
The revenue of Siemens’ rapidly expanding renewable energy division stood at €4.5 billion in 2010.
