Taking strong objection to the words uttered by Togadia, All India Muslim Youth Forum president in Mumbai, Mujeeb Khan told Arab News that Togadia has the habit of spewing venom against the Muslims and his latest call that he made in Ahmedabad was indirectly targeted toward the Muslims. “The federal government should take serious cognizance of the statement made by Togadia and also initiate strong action against him,” he said.

Addressing workers of the VHP from across the country, Togadia delivering a fiery speech which was seconded by right-wing leaders, called for a new Indian Constitution that allows for “anyone who converts Hindus to be beheaded.” The three days VHP conference was held a few meters away from the controversial Pirana Dargah (Muslim shrine) on the city’s outskirts, where Togadia along with nearly 200 VHP workers stayed during the three days conference. Their stay at the shrine a lot of anxiety for the police, as the conference concluded on Monday which was the festival of Eid Al-Adha, and police feared that with the statements made by Togadia, there was likely to be communal tension and also feared of communal riots. But everything passed peacefully.

Farouk Abdul Karim, general secretary of All India Muslim National Front, commenting on Togadia’s statement said that the Hindu militant leaders had lost his mental balance. “He makes such kind of hatred statement to provoke the sentiments of the Hindus and instigate communal riots. His remark in Ahmedabad is directed against Muslims and Christians, and is more to appease the Hindus. The Congress government which talks of secularism should not allow poison spewing fanatic leaders like Togadia to go free without taking stern action against him. The Muslims would not get provoked by such remarks and fall into the trap of whimsical people like Togadia,” Karim added.
