“During the meeting, the accomplishments of Prince Sultan Advanced Technology Research Institute will be covered. A report will be conducted on research regarding stem cells and nanotechnology, among others,” a PSCDR spokesman told Arab News.

The late Crown Prince Sultan pledged a substantial yearly donation in 2008 to fund PSCDR's activities in advanced disability research.

“The PSCDR will also announce Madinah as the fourth City for Friends of Disabled People. This means more people with disabilities will have access to various facilities so that they can be integrated into mainstream society,” the spokesman said.

The PSCDR conducts and funds field research on all aspects of disabilities with the help of its Founders' Council, the Disabled Children's Association (DCA) and other organizations.

The spokesman added that reintegration into mainstream society is part of PSCDR's “Universal Accessibility Project.”

“This project, however, is not only for disabled people but everybody whether they are old or young, obese or emaciated, temporarily disabled or healthy, pregnant or not, among others,” the spokesman added.

Defense Minister Prince Salman, in his capacity as the provincial governor, last year declared Riyadh as the first City for Friends of Disabled People.

“Makkah and Dammam followed Riyadh and were announced as second and third cities respectively for Friends of Disabled People,” he said.

The spokesman added that the 114 founders of the PSCDR would attend the meeting, which will be coordinated by Nasser Motawa, an engineer and one of PSCDR's founders.

Head of PSCDR’s board of trustees Prince Sultan bin Salman and Madinah Gov. Prince Abdulaziz bin Majid will co-chair the meeting.
