This was the second case of its kind in the holy city following the suspension of a ministry undersecretary early last week on charges of embezzling public funds.According to labor office sources, the official asked a female employee from a specialist medical center to pay him money if she wanted him to process her case in the office quickly.The sources did not identify the woman employee but said she complained to the authorities who were able to catch the official red-handed.They said the official, who had a leading position in the labor office, is currently under investigation.The sources, however, noted a drop in cases involving bribery and abuse of power after supervisory authorities tightened their grip on all government departments.They said any government official found to be misusing his powers, accepting bribes or tampering with public funds would be severely punished.
