- JEDDAH: For the fourth year in a row an “affordable art exhibition” featuring the work of Arab artists was inaugurated on Sunday by art collector and jewelry designer Nadia Al-Zuhair Zahid in Jeddah.
The exhibition will continue for 20 days at Jeddah Atelier at the Nazer Center on Tahliya Street.
Hisham Qandeel, an artist and owner of Jeddah Atelier art center, organized the exhibition in cooperation with more than 100 Arab artists, whose paintings are affordably priced from SR 300 to SR2,000.
“Over here you can get a reasonable piece of art to decorate your home or you can just bring out some creativity in your life. You will also find different forms of art and artistic work from an oil painting to watercolors and from pencil drawings and portraits to Arabic calligraphy.
Everyone loves colors and paintings. Normally this form of art is pretty expensive, therefore we organize this exhibition every year for everyone to participate and obtain a piece of art at an inexpensive rate,” added Hisham. Guest of honor Al-Zuhair Zahid appreciated the efforts of the artists and organizers in putting up such a colorful event.
“The idea behind organizing this exhibition is admirable. New artists get a chance to express themselves, which is great. By and large paintings are usually very expensive but when artists do smaller pieces…it’s easily purchasable by anyone to give an artistic touch to their homes, and it also promotes the talent of the younger generation (of artists),” said Zuhair.
Ola Hijazi, a Saudi artist, also explained artists do not get much of an opportunity to demonstrate their talent to a large community. She said the artists wait for this exhibition every year.
Hijazi also displayed some of her artwork based on Arabic calligraphy, where she explained the different forms of love. Artists of all ages can participate in this exhibition.
