The Prophet used to perform “Istisqa” (rain-seeking) prayers in case of drought or a delay in rainfall.

Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal attended the prayers at the Grand Mosque.

In Madinah, the undersecretary of Madinah governorate Suleiman bin Mohammed Al-Jeraish attended the prayers at the Prophet’s  Mosque.

In Riyadh, Prince Muhammad bin Saad, the acting governor, attended the congregation at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque.

The prayers were led by the Kingdom’s Grand Mufti and President of the Council of Senior Scholars and General Presidency of Research and Ifta, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Asheikh.

In his sermon, Al-Asheikh called on Muslims to repent their sins, seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty and beseech Him for rainfall.

Special prayer congregations were also held at universities and schools in various parts of the Kingdom.
