- BAGHDAD: Iraqi officials say a roadside bomb has killed two people and wounded eight south of Baghdad.
Police and health officials say the Saturday morning blast targeted people walking to the holy city of Karbala to commemorate the end of 40 days of mourning following the anniversary of the death of Imam Hussein, a revered Shiite figure.
The attack took place in Mahmoudiya, about 20 miles (30 kilometers) south of Baghdad.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity, as they were not authorized to brief the media.
