The department detected a total of 8,469 violations, including those of defacing public places, during the period, according to the annual report of the department.

Various committees under the department conducted raids on a total of 2,137 shops where some 8,570 people are working. It was found that 37 of these shops were operating without proper license. Among these workers, 67 of them did not have a health certificate, the report pointed out.

The licensing section at the department issued a total of 30,899 health certificates during the year. The committee for gasoline stations shut down 28 stations for various violations. Of these, 14 stations were allowed to reopen later.

A big quantity of foodstuffs that is unfit for human consumption was seized during raids, including 2,280 packets and 4,205 bags of food items.

The report showed that squads from the committee for combating expired medicines and herbs had seized 5,562 kilograms of medicinal herbs and 4,991 liters of oil in addition to 8,307 other items.

The committee for tires at the department had seized 3,270 tires that were unfit for use during raids conducted on 47 mechanic shops in the city, the report pointed out.
