- RIYADH: President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities Prince Sultan bin Salman has called on banks, corporations and other major companies to emulate Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation’s (SABIC) model in discharging their duties of corporate responsibility and social development.
The prince, who is also chairman of the Disabled Children’s Association (DCA), made the call in a statement after obtaining the agreement of SABIC’s Deputy Chairman and Executive President Muhammad Al-Madi to meet the cost of education and health care for 20 children of the DCA for five years.
“SABIC is not only a bastion of national industries but is also a leader in social responsibility projects. Its service to social development is remarkable and its charity deeds are sincere,” the prince said.
He added SABIC’s latest act is a model because most other companies’ social responsibility acts are confined to feeding and clothing or other services that do not make any real change to the living conditions of the poor.
The prince also thanked SABIC Chairman Prince Saud bin Abdullah Thunayan for the charitable gesture.
Objectives of DCA include providing comprehensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation services to disabled children with family support.
