- JEDDAH: Saudi shares closed higher on Saturday, boosted by gains in the banking and tourism sectors.
The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) ended 1.05 percent higher at 6,733.68 points and the banking index added 2.35 percent to 15,406.52 points.
The value of traded shares exceeded SR10 billion.
Heavyweight Al-Rajhi Bank closed 2.07 percent higher at SR74.
The hotel and tourism sector closed 4.6 percent higher at 6,825, led by gains in Saudi Hotels which added 5 percent, Reuters said.
Shares in petrochemical giant Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) gained 0.80 percent to SR94.75.
The banking index edged higher by 0.4 percent to 15,119 points.
Meanwhile, Saudi Cement Company announced on Saturday that due to rising demand for cement in the Kingdom, particularly in the Western Region, it has started negotiating with a number of cement companies in the Kingdom for the sale of quantities of clinker that could reach in total of 600,000 tons, the company said in a statement on Tadawul website.
