RIYADH: Lazio Region Universities Coordination Committee, or CRUL, and the International Renewable Energy Agency, or IRENA, have signed a research partnership to bolster the country’s energy transition, according to a statement.

Under the new partnership, research regarding bioenergy, geothermal, hydroelectric, ocean, solar, and wind energy will be carried out in order to pave the way for sustainable development, access to energy, energy scrutiny, economic growth, and low carbon prosperity.

Both parties will work together to accelerate the expansion and raise awareness of possible renewable energy centric solutions.

“A knowledge ecosystem that advances research and creates a skilled human workforce is crucial to scale up renewable energy deployment swiftly and sustainably,” the statement said, citing IRENA Director-General, Francesco La Camera.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding comes amid the shared path undertaken by both entities towards the UAE’s energy transition, favoring the transfer of technology for the overall well-being of the planet and the community.

The signing took place during the ‘The University Ecosystem of Lazio Region: Knowledge as a Heritage’ forum held in Dubai at the Expo Italy Pavilion.
