Saudi stocks showed narrow fluctuations yesterday, as Tadawul index traded in the range of 22.4 points only.
Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) reflected a sideways walk for most of the session and ended red at 7,706.01 points, dropping less than three points or 0.03 percent for the entire day. On an YTD basis, TASI registered a positive return of 13.3 percent.
Among market cap indices only Med cap was able to close a little higher.
Sectoral indices repeated the mixed performance of previous day, as seven out of Tadawul's 15 sectors moved upward, showing a collection of 367.3 points. Rest of the sectors trimmed more than two hundred points jointly.
Hotel & Tourism made the biggest jump among sectoral indices, posting a solid growth of 2.24 percent or 268.6 points to 12,263.58. Media and Publishing sector, on the other hand, posted the largest losses, falling 0.93 percent to 2,665.27.
Most of heavyweights finished to the downside, with Kingdom Holding dipping by 1.36 percent, SABB 1.02 percent and Samba Financial Group nearly half percent. Decliners outnumbered the advancers by a margin of 71 to 50 and the prices of 35 companies remained unchanged.
United Cooperative Assurance outperformed among all Saudi equities, reflecting an increment of SR 1.05 or 4.27 percent.
On the other hand, Astra Industrial Group showed the worst performance, declining 4.15 percent for the day.
Tadawul investors showed a lackadaisical attitude, as the market's volume went 55.4 percent below the 50-day average of 236.7 million shares. Turnover also reduced to SR 3.0 billion, 47.0 percent lower than the 50-day average of SR 5.7 billion.
Most of the trading was concentrated in Emaar the Economic City with 13.5 million shares, a relative market share of 12.8 percent.
