The Saudi stock market recorded mild losses yesterday, as the Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) closed lower to 7,699.25, trimming exactly four points or 0.05 percent for the entire day.

After falling over 62 points during the session it bottomed out at 7,641.21 points level and started to rise again but ended just below the break-even line.

The market cap indices closed the day in mixed territories.

Again sectoral performance remained almost balanced with eight sectors moving upward and accumulating nearly 408 points. Hotel & Tourism showing notable gains of 272.6 points or 2.2 percent became the top performer among sectoral indices, closing at 12,849.41.

On the other negative side, seven sectors ended lower, dropping an aggregate of 182.3 points. Petrochemical Industries sector came out as the biggest decliner, turning down 0.76 percent for the day.

Most of heavy weights closed lower from previous day’s levels, with SABB decreasing by 1.04 percent, Saudi Telecom 0.98 percent and SAFCO 0.69 percent.

The total number of falling stocks exceeded to the total number of rising stocks by a margin of 73 to 52 and the prices of 31 companies remained unchanged.

Saudi Indian Company for Co-operative Insurance (WAFA Insurance) stepped up to occupy the top position at Tadawul, surging 7.95 percent to close the day SR112.

Alinma Bank continued its most active status yesterday, liquidating 34.7 million shares, which equates 20.8 percent of overall market volume.

The value of these shares totaled roughly SR500 million, a relative market share of 10.5 percent.

A good amount of liquidity SR4.8 billion was flowed into the market, an increase of 20.8 percent from the previous level but still it was 14.6 percent lower than 50-day average.

Tadawul volume also went high by 9.3 percent and traded 166.8 million shares as compared to previous day’s 152.6 million shares.
