Tadawul’s performance appeared to be extremely volatile last week as it logged largest intra-day up and down of current year.
Saudi Arabia's benchmark stock index set out with a largest dip of 329.5 points or 4.32 percent at the end of its first trading day of the week, which could not be retrieved despite the index closed higher for subsequent three days.
The TASI finished the week at 7,526.26 points, down 97.63 points or 1.28 percent, from its previous weekend close at 7,623.89 points. Its year-to-date yield still remained over 10.6 percent.
Total market capitalization of Saudi stock exchange reached to SR 1.5 trillion, decreasing by 1.4 percent from the previous week’s value.
The market cap indices all finished to the downside, with Small cap falling 2.3 percent last week.
All Saudi sectors performed negatively, except Retail, Media and Real Estate, which showed small positive weekly changes. Rest of the 12 sectors trimmed more than 1,615 points for the week.
Tourism and Multi-Investment suffered worst of all sectors, turning down nearly 4.2 percent in a week.
Top 10 heavy weights also ended the week lower, with Kingdom Holding dipping by 4.04 percent, SABB 3.08 percent and Saudi Telecom 2.2 percent.
Weekly market breadth was unfavorable, with 26 stocks witnessing advances and 123 others marking a decline.
Saudi Indian Company for Co-operative Insurance (+20.4 percent), Makkah Construction & Development Co. (+13.8 percent) and Tabouk Agriculture (+12.4 percent) showing notable gains became the top performers among all Saudi companies.
Tourism Enterprises showing excessive losses of 10.98 percent became the major decliner, closing the week at SR 95.25.
Tadawul turnover with trades over 1.58 billion shares worth SR34.9 billion remained 18 percent greater than previous week’s level but upside-downside volume ratio of 0.08:1 remained negative.
Dar Alarkan Real Estate appeared to be the most active stock for the week.
Its volume set sold roughly 260 million shares, which are about 16.4 percent of the overall market.
Most of the major benchmark indices at GCC stock markets ended the week in red.
The benchmark GulfBase GCC General Index also closed the week lower at 4,423.44 points level, dropping more than 52 points or 1.17 percent for the entire week.
