The Saudi stock market sustained its upward march yesterday, closing the second consecutive session with impressive gains (+ 0.71 percent).
Saudi Arabia’s benchmark stock index (TASI) added further 53.4 points to finish at 7,620.83 points. While curving in the upward territory for most of the session it rose to a maximum gain of 71.3 points.
TASI’s year-to-date gains reached over twelve percent.
Large cap with 0.82 percent upward jump remained prominent among market cap indices. Most of large caps finished to the upside, with Al-Rajhi Bank surging by 2.72 percent, Riyad Bank 1.84 percent and SABB 1.06 percent.
Twelve out of Tadawul's 15 sectors ended the day with modest gains, accumulating more than eight hundred points collectively.
Retail and Banks were major gainers among sectoral indices, which marginally increased by 2.39 percent and 1.68 percent respectively. Tourism sector added considerable 151.3 points, up 1.28 percent.
On the worst side, Media and Publishing sector continued its downward fall for the second straight day, slipping 2.14 percent further to close at 2,772.76.
Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners by a margin of 91 to 38 and the prices of 27 companies remained unchanged.
Saudi Indian Co. for Cooperative Insurance turned in a splendid performance among all Saudi stocks, surging by 7.9 percent to close at SR 109.5.
Alinma Bank appeared to be the most active stock for the day. Its volume set sold about 23 million shares, which are about 13.2 percent of the overall market. But the company ended without any change.
Roughly 176 million shares worth SR 5.1 billion were poured into the market.
