The Saudi stock market was in the red yesterday, extending losses for the second consecutive session and dropping 0.42 percent further.
Saudi Arabia’s benchmark stock index after spending entire day in the downward territory ended lower to 7,667.07 points, down 32.2 points, from its previous day close at 7,699.25 points.
It went to a maximum of 43.6 points down from the level of opening bell yesterday.
TASI’s year-to-date gains again reached below 13 percent.
The market cap indices all finished to the downside.
Only five out of Tadawul’s 15 sectors witnessed a positive change, accumulating 564.7 points for the day. Remaining twofold sectors closed in the downward territory, paring an aggregate of 383 points.
Hotel & Tourism sector sustained its upward march, marking another handsome gain of 461.97 points or 3.6 percent to cross 13,000-mark.
On the negative side, Industrial Investment and Insurance sectors performed worst, going down by 1.23 percent and 1.16 percent respectively.
Most of heavyweights slipped from previous day’s level, with Samba Financial Group dipping by 1.45 percent and Saudi Telecom 1.24 percent.
The market breadth confirmed a bearish momentum, as out of 156 stocks traded yesterday only 32 were able to close higher.
Tihama Advertising & Public Relations Co. and Al-Tayyar Travel Group made the biggest jumps among all Saudi equities, surging 5.47 percent and 5.21 percent respectively.
Alinma Bank continued to dominate the trading activity, liquidating 62.6 million shares, which equates roughly 35 percent of the overall market volume.
The bank with a liquidity of SR 913.3 million topped the value chart, closing at SR 14.55.
More than 180 million shares worth SR 4.4 billion changed hands on the Saudi stock market.
