The Saudi stock market was in the red yesterday, reversing after a 2-day surge and dropping merely 0.07 percent.
Saudi Arabia's benchmark stock index bouncing between green-red within a range of 36.9 points finished nearly 5 points lower to 7,800.92 points. It went 19.7 points above and 17.3 points below the break-even line during the day, said a report from GulfBase.
The market cap indices closed the day in mixed territories. Only six out of Tadawul’s 15 sectors witnessed a positive change, accumulating 150 points for the day. Remaining nine sectors closed in the downward territory, paring an aggregate of 703.5 points.
Real Estate Development outdid rest of the sectors, advancing 0.85 percent and closing below 5,000-mark.
On the other hand, Hotel and Tourism switched its position from top performing sector of previous few days to the worst performing sector of the day, down 3.72 percent to 13,661.08.
Heavy weights also closed in mixed fashion, where Saudi Telecom Co. rose 0.99 percent and Mobily fell 0.6 percent for the day.
The market breadth was slightly unfavorable, with 61 stocks witnessing advances and 70 others marking a decline.
Among all Saudi equities, new player Aljazira Takaful Taawuni Company remained at top position for the third straight day, surging 9.91 percent further and closing at SR13.3.
Tadawul volume with trades over 208 million shares remained slightly greater than previous level but still it was 11.95 percent lower than 50-day average.
Alinma Bank continued to dominate the trading activity, liquidating 19.8 million shares, which equates 9.5 percent of the overall market volume.
Furthermore, Atheeb Telecom showed the best performance among most active stocks, rising 4.84 percent to close the day at SR15.15.
