DUBAI: The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) signed an initial agreement with France’s electric company EDF for research and development in nuclear energy.
It is part of the UAE’s efforts to pursue clean electricity and to tackle climate change, state news agency WAM has reported.
Under the deal, the pair will share global expertise and latest advancements in the nuclear energy sector. They will also explore the product of green hydrogen powered by carbon-free nuclear energy.
The French owned entity operates the largest nuclear fleet worldwide, playing a key role in the global energy transition by exporting its expertise in low-carbon energies.
The pair signed the deal during the annual E-Fusion (Emirati French Industrial Supply Chain Initiative for Nuclear), a two-day event between UAE and France.
