Bahri, the national shipping company of Saudi Arabia, participated in the General Directorate of Border Guards’ celebrations of the 87th Saudi National Day and World Maritime Day.

A range of events and programs marked the special occasion, which coincided with the Kingdom’s bid for membership of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Executive Council.

During the event, Bahri acting CEO Ali Al-Harbi received Border Guards Director General Maj. Gen. Awad bin Eid Al-Balawi; Nabeel Mohammed Al-Amoudi, president, Saudi Ports Authority; and Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, president, Public Transport Authority at the Prince Mohammed bin Naif Academy for Science & Security Studies.

Bahri highlighted its leadership by showcasing its marine transportation and logistics capabilities. The company exhibited its business in an innovative way that gave the public a glimpse of the latest technologies and machinery Bahri uses in its operations.

These operations include the transportation of petroleum, chemicals, and bulk goods, logistical services and vessel management, as well as big data technologies and advanced marine analytics.

Al-Harbi congratulated King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman on the National Day. He said the company is eager to contribute to Saudi Vision 2030 and the nation’s economic growth.

“Bahri’s backing of the Kingdom’s membership of the IMO is not only part of its support for the government’s initiatives, but also gives a boost to the role the company plays to accelerate international maritime trade,” said Wael Al-Sarhan, senior vice president, marketing, at Bahri.

He added: “With God’s grace, Bahri enjoys a storied track record filled with achievements and distinguished performance. The company has been able to further expand the scope of its already broad range of services to become one of the world’s biggest specialists in comprehensive, integrated transportation and logistics.”

Al-Sarhan said Bahri is a major enabler of the growth and development of the global transportation industry. Bahri now owns and operates 40 VLCCs (very large crude carriers) making it the world’s top owner and operator of VLCCs. Other attendees from Bahri included Khalid Al-Omar, project development manager, and Wijdan Al-Suhaibani, branding and communications manager.
