As part of its commitment to support and promote energy efficiency, LG has awarded Dual Inverter air conditioners to six winners of the “Time To Save” campaign, which was launched in July. The campaign continued until the end of August. Over 2,000 individuals from across the Kingdom par ticipated in the campaign.
Despite various awareness campaigns and efforts to promote efficient consumption of electricity, many households are still suffering from high bills, driving the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to find solutions such as the “Taysir.”
The energy consumption in the residential sector accounts for about half of the electricity consumption in the Kingdom, the bulk of which is consumed by air conditioners. The Saudi Energy Efficiency Center has called for adopting the most efficient air conditioners while suggesting split conditioners as the best in energy saving.
In response to this directive, LG said it was one of the first companies to offer an efficient electricity saving solution — the “Inverter” technology, which offers 60 percent faster cooling with high energy-efficiency. It also consumes 53 percent less energy as compared to conventional air conditioners. Some of the key features of this technology are quiet cooling, gentle air, dual protection filter and automatic cleaning, and a smart display that allows users to check the functioning of the air conditioner easily.
Eddie John, LG Electronics Saudi Arabia managing director, said: “The campaign has been successful in achieving its objectives with an overwhelming response from consumers, especially as the campaign coincided with summer as well as the recent developments in tariffs for electricity consumption, which has played a major role in providing effective solutions to reduce consumption as well as to address the misuse of energy.
“We, at LG, believe that we have come up with the perfect solution to address the existing problem. And we will continue to provide solutions in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to increase the efficiency of air conditioners by 35 percent by 2020.”
He added: “Avoiding wastage and using electricity responsibly helps lead a better life, which is what LG has been striving to achieve here in the Kingdom by helping consumers reduce their energy consumption through the latest technologies. Today it is essential to set high product standards, as in the case of developed countries, and produce energy-efficient air conditioners, thermostats and other equipment and parts, that conform to the advanced standards.”
