On the occasion of World Animal Day, celebrated annually on Oct. 4, LuLu launched a campaign to stress the importance of animal welfare. “World for Everyone” was officially inaugurated by Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Doweriej, director general of veterinary health and monitoring, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. At the launch event, Al-Doweriej said: “Animal welfare is everyone’s responsibility.”
As part of the campaign and to celebrate pets and their importance in our lives, LuLu Hypermarkets in Saudi Arabia is hosting a “Cat Show” from Oct. 4 to 10. The event is being held at LuLu’s branches in the Yarmouk district of Riyadh, as well as in Al-Ahsa, Alkhobar and Jeddah, where cat owners can show off their pets and win exciting prizes for them.
“The idea is to promote animal well-being and LuLu’s vision of a world where all animals live free from suffering and where pets are cherished,” said Shehim Mohammed, director of LuLu Hypermarkets Saudi Arabia. “To this end, LuLu will showcase the latest in pet care: From pet foods that help set the nutritional standards for pets to pet care products for good grooming and health, as well as pet accessories that perk up your pet-pampering routines and also your pets’ appearances.”
There will be special promotions and deals on all these items.
The lineup of events includes the participation of local animal welfare societies such as Rahma Association and Riyadh Shelter and the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, King Saud University and Saudi Art Association.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture is supporting the promotion in Al-Ahsa, Alkhobar and Jeddah.
“Together we can all make a difference to the way we interact with the animal world, as animals are an important part of the global ecosystem and whether domesticated or wild, we have to treat them with kindness and respect,” Mohammed said. “LuLu will work to spread this message through this unique festival, and we welcome all to participate,” he added.
