The Qaweem initiative for fighting ignorance, diseases and unemployment has received support for its efforts to achieve inter-religious peace, at the International Research and Practice Conference in Moscow, Russia.

The conference, titled “Ways to Achieve Inter-Religious Peace: The Role of Theologians, Diplomats and Public Figures,” on March 25 was organized by the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, the Council for Interaction with Religious Associations under the President of Russia, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, the Russian Association for Protection of Religious Freedom, the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and supported by the Fund for Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education.

The conference brought together prominent representatives of private educational and research institutions, scientists and experts, and religious, public and political figures from Russia and other countries.

Conference participants called on the Qaweem social and educational program to strengthen and improve the mechanisms of public diplomacy, and to respond to new challenges and threats in a timely manner.

Participants discussed the joint activity of religious and non-governmental organizations aimed at strengthening peace and harmonizing inter-religious and inter-ethnic relations, the historical role of prominent diplomats, as well as ways to counteract extremist ideology.
