The 17th “SteelFab 2022,” MENA’s largest event of its kind, kicked off on Monday in Sharjah. The four-day event is organized by the Expo Centre Sharjah with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

More than 150 local and international exhibitors from 30 countries and 400 of the world’s leading brands in the field of metalwork and related industries are taking part in the event.

Abdullah Sultan Al-Owais, chairman of the SCCI and chairman of the board of directors of the Expo Centre Sharjah, inaugurated the exhibition, accompanied by Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, director general, SCCI; Saif Mohammed Al-Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah; Sultan Shattaf, director of sales and marketing at Expo Centre Sharjah; and others.

The attendees toured the exhibition and the pavilions and stands of the participating entities, where they were briefed on the products, equipment, and machinery for the steel and metal industry.

They also learned about the most prominent technologies of the fourth industrial revolution in the steel sector, and modern equipment in the field of metal forming.

“The broad participation of local and international companies in ‘SteelFab 2022’ clearly reflects the vital role and the outstanding regional position played by the emirate of Sharjah, as a prominent destination on the map of the global exhibition industry,” said Al-Owais. “The industrial sector is one of the key drivers supporting economic development in Sharjah, as it plays a pivotal role in enhancing the emirate’s domestic product, especially since Sharjah is home to 35 percent of manufacturing facilities in the UAE.”

“The increasing number of the exhibiting companies in this year’s edition signals the strong start of the event since Day 1. It also mirrors its growing importance locally and internationally as a leading platform for discovering huge and promising investment opportunities in this vital sector in Sharjah,” said Al-Midfa.

He added: “What distinguishes this year’s edition is that it is held simultaneously with the 6th Fasteners World Middle East, a full-fledged vertical show for the entire fasteners and fixing industry.”

The event also highlights the latest international technologies, including a display of the most prominent machines, equipment, and machinery for the steel industry, and CNC cutting systems.

Major British industrial companies are taking part in this event through the UK pavilion, in addition to the participation of leading countries in the steel industry, including Germany, Italy, India, and Turkey, besides a remarkable presence of Emirati and local companies.
