The Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East (JCCME) recently organized a training course on Japanese desalination techniques, in cooperation with Saudi Arabia Water Environment Association (SAWEA) in Alkhobar.
The two-day course titled “Training Course on Japanese Desalination Technologies” on Jan. 30-31 highlighted the latest Japanese technologies in desalination and management systems.
A lecture titled “Management and Troubleshooting for Seawater RO Plant” by Keiji Uemura, a specialist in seawater RO facilities, from Water Reuse Promotion Center (WRPC), Japan, focused on troubleshooting skills against membrane fouling and deterioration in desalination facilities. It was attended by a number of Saudi engineers and technicians.
In addition, six Japanese companies — Toyobo, Yokogawa, Toray, Torishima, Ebara and Azbil — who have business operating entities in Saudi Arabia, made technical presentations.
Thamer Al-Mutairi, president of SAWEA, expressed his gratitude for having the training course and highlighted the significance of bilateral cooperation in the water sector in the framework of the Saudi-Japan Vision 2030.
The event proved to be a great networking platform for all participants, including Saudi university students, who exchanged with each other business and well as technical views on desalination technologies.
