DUBAI: The UAE Cabinet will provide paid leaves to some categories of employees at the federal government, state news agency WAM reported on Wednesday.
The decision is part of the country’s efforts to control the coronavirus spread.
Married federal government employees with children below 16 years of age may take a fully paid leave, as well as those who have special needs children, no matter the age.
Employees whose spouses work in health entities, including doctors and nurses and employees of quarantine centers also get a full paid leave.
Following the resolution, the relevant ministry or federal authority may require employees working in technical occupations to work remotely instead of taking a leave.
The UAE confirmed on Wednesday 300 new cases of coronavirus bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2,659.
The new cases recorded were of different nationalities and that they were all in a stable condition, according to UAE health ministry spokesperson Dr. Farida Al-Hosani.
