Forum focuses on mother and child issues

An exhibition and forum focusing on the health of mother and child was inaugurated by Aqeel bin Jamaan Al-Ghamdi, deputy minister of health and assistant for hospitals, on behalf of Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah at the Jeddah International Center for Forums and Events.
It has been organized by the Ministry of Health and Jeddah Health Affairs with the cooperation of national and international companies dealing in children’s products.
The exhibition includes several sections, including health, childcare and maternity, beauty and fashion in addition to education and entertainment for parents and children.
During the four-day event the exhibition will showcase products related to mother and children’s health. The forum will also discuss a number of topics related to the health of mothers and children.
Al-Ghamdi said it was important to pay attention to the health of women before, during and after pregnancy and childcare so she could protect her family and take care of them and herself.
He added that investment in health care for citizens is a priority of the Health Ministry to reduce the incidence of diseases, to face any signs of chronic disease early and provide proper treatment, especially in cases of obesity, stress and diabetes.
He urged mothers to take care of themselves and undergo necessary tests before and after pregnancy and get the child the basic vaccinations.
Haiya Sindi, chairperson of the organizing committee of the exhibition, said the committee was proud to be part of the exhibition and awareness campaign and thanked all participating companies specializing in maternal and childcare.
She said the exhibition was an opportunity for the companies to sign commercial partnerships with Saudi businessmen.
She added that experts and doctors will speak on pregnancy, breastfeeding, protection of the mouth and teeth, vaccinations of children, fitness and depression after birth.
Mohammed Fitaihi, founder of Baby Fitaihi, which sells baby products, said it was the social responsibility of everyone to participate in such programs and spread awareness. Baby Fitaihi launched a new brand, “Hope,” with part of the sales going to charity for deaf children.
“It s our contribution to social positive change as part of our social corporate responsibility initiatives,” he said.
