The head of the Presidency for Meteorology and Environment, Abudlaziz bin Omar Al-Jasir, has approved the use of new environmental standards for air, water and noise quality while existing establishments have been granted a five-year grace period to correct their status.
Al-Jasir said the decision was based on the regulations of the environmental public system in its third paragraph of the third article. The article stipulates that relevant bodies should draft an environmental protection draft law, issue, develop, review and interpret it.
The GPE has drafted and developed a comprehensive system of standards, measurements, and environmental guidelines that achieve the principle of protecting human health and maintaining the environment and its natural resources.
